Colour Laser prints are individual sheets of paper that are printed either as singles, or in a small quantity, on A4, A3 or oversized A3 sheets. The price and quality is aimed at the business market, or when fast turnaround is required. For runs over 300 copies we recommend offset printing for better quality and price.

Files should be submitted as a Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf) for best reproduction, but we accept Photoshop format, tiff and high-res jpegs. Files created by Microsoft programs are not acceptable as we cannot guarantee full compatibility with the image on your system.

Once the file is checked, we proof on the laser before commencing the print run. Finished sizes are determined by the layout dimensions and paper thickness, making Laser Prints very versatile. For document printing allow a 5mm white border. For covers and custom flyers we print on oversize A3 paper and trim to size.

Finished Laser prints can be bound or celloglazed for protection.

Setup Fees will vary according the the complexity of the job, and how well prepared for printing it is.

When starting a print job, we need to open all files and check that they will print correctly, especially in regard to borders, bleed, justification and font accuracy. Next, a determination is made as to layout, and printing method (greyscale, CMYK, both). Images are checked for pixelisation and jpeg artifacts and fixed as necessary.

Proofing requires files to be layed out and sent to the printer where proofs are checked for legibility, colour correctness, imperfections and faults. Any problem is corrected and then re-proofed.

All this takes time and is charged at a nominal rate of $60 per hour (inc gst).
