Hot laminates are applied with a laminator machine.
The laminate (roll or sheet) is heated to approx. 100C and pressed vai rollers onto the paper (substrate).
The laminate is then cooled and trimmed to customer specifications.
Various types of laminate are available, with the Satin/gloss combination being the default.
Crystal Satin:
Our best product. The paper (substrate) is encapsulated between the 125gsm Crystal Satin (top surface) and a 125gsm gloss.
The finish is suitable for all Professional Photo applications as the satin laminate only takes a small amount of brilliance from the original.
The thickness (250gsm) adds stability and is great for glued applications as the laminate acts as a barrier between board, glue and photo.
This laminate hangs straight and will roll loosely.
Price is $30 per linear metre (at 1000mm width max.)
250gsm gloss:
Now this is thick. It is used to produce stiff laminated products that need to stand or hang without other support.
And the thickness adds to the gloss effect, leaving colours saturated and blacks deep.
Price is $40 per linear metre (at 1000mm width max.). A minimum charge of $40 applies to this product.
80gsm standard gloss:
Used for large runs of non-professional or short life product.
The encapsulation of this product requires us to leave a min. 5mm border around all edges.
Can be rolled but may have 'memory' of roll if left for extended periods.
Price is $20 per linear meter (at 1000mm width max.). A minimum charge of $40 applies to this product.
