Before we can edit:
As most video formats in their raw (camera format) state can only be edited with software supplied by the camera manufacturer, the footage to be edited must be rendered into an AVI format. The charge for this depends on the time required, the camera, and how the data is stored - disk, tape, card, removable hard drive etc. Please discuss this with us prior to any editing work.
How we Edit:
Editing is the selection of video footage and the sequential build of the movie. This is a very time intensive operation, which involves the editor (us) and the director (you). Once all the raw footage is collected and loaded into the editing program, we build a movie scene by scene. Each scene must be found, an entry and exit point determined, and the footage appended to the movie. For a simple movie, that is all tha'ts required. For more complex movies, scenes must be trimmed and timed to the soundtrack, special effect sounds added, music overlayed, menus created and credits generated. Any project with this amount of work will need a lot of preparation and time.
Editing charges:
As editing is complex, we charge by the hour. For project work, we will set up an account, and a deposit is required prior to commencement of the work. All work will be saved to a removable hard drive to be supplied by the client, and rendered to standard DvD-video format.
Formats supported:
We currently only edit and supply standard DV quality Pal and Ntsc movies and Dvd-s. With Hd Format, we will begin to edit and record in the BlueRay format sometime later in 2009.
